In the hustle and bustle of running a business or managing professional responsibilities, it's easy to feel overwhelmed during challenging times. However, as small business owners, professionals, and entrepreneurs, it's crucial to remember that these difficult seasons may be part of God's divine preparation for a greater purpose. As stated in Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." Consider the story of Joseph in Genesis. Despite being sold into slavery by his brothers and facing numerous trials, Joseph remained faithful. His adversity ultimately led him to a position of power in Egypt, where he was able to save his family and many others from famine. Joseph's story reminds us, as in Genesis 50:20, "You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives," that God's plans are often beyond our understanding, but His purpose is perfect. Abraham's life also illustrates the importance of preparation and trust. God called him to leave his homeland with a promise of becoming a great nation. Despite the uncertainties and the long wait for the promised son, Isaac, Abraham's faith did not falter. His story shows that God often prepares us through tests of faith, molding us into individuals ready to fulfill His promises. As Hebrews 11:8 says, "By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance." Before David became king, he endured numerous challenges, including being pursued by King Saul. During these trials, David learned to rely on God's strength and timing. His years as a shepherd were also preparation for leading a nation, teaching him to care for and guide his people. David’s life demonstrates that preparation may involve learning patience and developing skills essential for our calling. The lessons of David are echoed in Psalm 27:14, "Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord." Moses' life is a profound testament to God's preparation and timing. Born during a period of great oppression, Moses was placed in a basket by his mother and found by Pharaoh's daughter, thus beginning his unique journey of preparation within the Egyptian royal household. However, it was in the wilderness that Moses truly learned to lead, spending forty years shepherding before God called him to deliver Israel from slavery. His encounter with God at the burning bush marked the beginning of his mission to lead the Israelites, illustrating that God's plan often requires us to leave our comfort zones and trust in His guidance. As Exodus 3:10 states, "So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt." Moses' story encourages us to embrace our own paths of preparation, trusting that God equips us with the strength and wisdom needed for the tasks He sets before us. When you face difficult seasons in your business or career, consider what God might be teaching you. Are you learning patience, perseverance, or perhaps a new skill? Remember, these challenges may be refining you for a future blessing or to fulfill your God-given purpose. Heavenly Father, we come before You acknowledging our need for Your wisdom and strength. In times of uncertainty and challenge, help us to trust in Your perfect plan. Grant us patience and perseverance, and open our hearts to the lessons You are teaching us. May we find courage in Your promises, knowing that You are preparing us for something greater. Guide us, support us, and let Your will be done in our lives. In Jesus' name, Amen.
